Due to a condition called pre-femoral focal disorder, St. John had her right leg amputated below the knee when she was 5 years old. Despite this challenge, she went on to excel as an athlete, a scholar, a mother and a businesswoman. After graduating magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1986, St. John won a Rhodes Scholarship to Trinity College, Oxford,^[2] where she earned her M.Litt. degree in economics in 1990. She worked in the White House during the Clinton administration as a Director for the National Economic Council, and is currently CEO of Courageous Spirit, Inc.

St. John has written and published six books: Succeeding Sane; Getting Ahead at Work Without Leaving Your Family Behind; Money: Fall Down? Get Up!; How Strong Women Pray;^[3] Live Your Joy; and her latest work, written with her teenage daughter, Darcy Deane, How Great Women Lead. Together, they traveled around the world on an extraordinary mother-daughter journey into the lives, and life lessons, of fascinating women leaders including Hillary Clinton, Condoleezza Rice, President of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, fashion designers, CEOs, women’s rights activists, and many more.

In February 2007, as part of the celebration of Black History Month, St. John was honored at the White House by President George W. Bush who said: "[Bonnie St. John] is the kind of person that you really want to be around, and the kind of person that shows that individual courage matters in life."^[4]

St. John was featured on a nationwide Starbucks beverage cup with the quote "I was ahead in the slalom. But in the second run, everyone fell on a dangerous spot. I was beaten by a woman that got up faster than I did. I learned that people fall down, winners get up, and gold medal winners just get up faster."^[5]

NBC Nightly News selected St. John as "One of the five most inspiring women in America". She has appeared on The Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN, Montel and the Discovery Health Channel. The only minority on the all-female, six-person jury that acquitted George Zimmerman of murder and manslaughter charges in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin spoke out for the first time in an exclusive interview with Robin Roberts for Friday's Good Morning America. Juror B29 who used only her first name, Maddy, to protect her safety, said that Zimmerman "got away with murder," according to ABC News. She also said she owed Martin's parents an apology for the verdict because she felt she "let them down."
The 36-year-old mother of eight, who is Puerto Rican, said she was the juror that fought to the end and was going to give them a hung jury. On the second day of deliberations, she decided under Florida law there was not enough evidence to convict Zimmerman of murder or manslaughter, according to the Huffington Post.
She was the second juror to speak out after the trial ended. The first was juror B37 who appeared on CNN, but did not show her face or body. To read the full story, click here.
In the weeks since the jury cleared Zimmerman of all charges, he has gone into hiding only to resurface to rescue a family of four trapped under an overturned SUV. He was one of two men to help the strangers on July 17 in Sanford, Fla., according to ABC News.
The family he rescued -- Dana and Mark Gerstle and their two children -- canceled a press conference on Thursday for fear that saying anything positive about Zimmerman would be "toxic" and wants to remain out of the public eye, according to ABC News. For the full story, click here

ESPN Dallas reported this move was coming two days ago. Bell, 29, possesses the athletic skill set to be an NFL starter, but struggled mightily in Philadelphia last year. Appearing in nine games with five starts, Bell graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 78 tackle among 80 qualifiers, ahead of only Cardinals turnstile LT D'Anthony Batiste and Chargers UDFA Mike Harris. Arizona Dust Storm! July 12, 2013!

I forwarded a link from local news about today's storm. The storms can be bad and as you'll see from the report they can lead to horrible outcomes. I just happened to be out walking before it hit and caught a cool picture of it rolling in. I think it's wild when you can see it moving across the sky. Has nice colors and hues. That's the cool part to me. All the dust in my hair and need for a fresh shower was not so cool! :) - Wanda
