We just posted the
410-item Kmart Toy Book sale listing along with the
47-page Kmart Toy Book ad scan!
The sale goes live this Sunday, October 27 and runs through the Saturday before Thanksgiving, November 23.
While many of the items listed in the toy book are being sold at their everyday price, there are
fourteen coupons on the last two pages of the ad which are good for additional discounts on some of this year's hottest holiday toys!
Bucking the trend of starting one's Black Friday sale on Thanksgiving, Best Buy is
currently listing their Black Friday event as starting on Friday, November 29.
While there has not yet been an official announcement, Best Buy's Black Friday landing page states (in more than one place) that both their in-store and online Black Friday events will take place on Friday.
Despite many of their competitors beginning their Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving Day last year, Best Buy held firm with their midnight opening; something that apparently has a high likelihood of repeating again this year.
But, just when we thought we were making progress, Target
updated their Black Friday landing page to now advertise a three day sale that begins on Thanksgiving. No start time is given, but if we had to guess, we'd put our money on another 8pm start.
Last year Target began their Black Friday sale at 9pm on Thanksgiving, an hour later than their biggest competitor, Walmart. Target bumping up their sale by an hour doesn't seem like too far of a stretch, especially considering that
Kohl's,
Macy's and
JC Penney (stores who have traditionally had later starts) have all announced Thanksgiving starts for their Black Friday sales.
Target also
unveiled their latest policy changes for the upcoming holiday season.
Chief among the changes is the extended price matching policy which states that Target will accept price matches on all qualifying items purchased between November 1 and December 21. Compared to the normal policy that only allowed price matches within seven days of purchase, this is quite the improvement. Restrictions do apply and, unsurprisingly, Black Friday sales are excluded from the policy.
Also announced was their new store pickup service, where shoppers can purchase over 35,000 items on Target.com and pick up those same items from their local store shortly thereafter. The in-store pickup option is currently available at many Target locations, with a full rollout expected to be completed by November 1. The one caveat: the in-store pickup option is not available at all during the week of Thanksgiving (Sunday, Nov 24 - Saturday, Nov 30).
Considering Circuit City (remember them?) was offering 24-minute in-store pickup in 2005, it does seem a bit weird that Target is championing this accomplishment eight years late, but it's still better than nothing.
It seems that, against Best Buy's best efforts, the trend of Black Friday starting on Thanksgiving is here to stay - at least among the big box retailers. The real question is whether or not any of them will be brave (or foolish, depending on who you ask) enough to push the starting line up even earlier. I'm guessing we find out once Walmart announces their Black Friday plans.

We just posted the 614-item Toys R Us Black Friday sale listing along with the 29-page Toys R Us Black Friday advertisement scans!
The Toys R Us Black Friday sale starts at 5pm on Thanksgiving Day: three full hours before any other big-box retailer! And in some kind of twisted irony, Toys R Us' "Black Friday" early bird items won't even be available on Black Friday, as door-buster pricing is only valid until 9pm on Thursday!
The remainder of the ad is valid through Saturday, November 30.

It is not a big surprise that Toys R Us is the first to plant their Black Friday sale right in the middle of Thanksgiving as Toys R Us helped pioneer the Thursday starts. In 2010, Walmart and Best Buy both started their Black Friday sales at 5am. By comparison, Toys R Us started theirs at 9pm on Thanksgiving Day.
We may have not recognized it then, but it was definitely a sign of things to come. And with Thanksgiving Day no longer off limits, it will be interesting to see if any other retailers decide to push up their Black Friday starts in an effort to court Thanksgiving shoppers.

Starting Sunday, November 10, Home Depot will kick off their pre-Black Friday sale featuring items at what we're told will be their lowest prices of the season - matching and even beating Black Friday prices!
The sale only lasts until Wednesday, November 13 and these prices won't be seen again until the proper Home Depot Black Friday sale. So while it's a relatively short shopping window, it's still better than having to fight the crowds on Black Friday.

And rounding out new ads for the day, we posted the Stage Stores Black Friday sale listingalong with the 48-page Stage Stores Black Friday ad scan!
Stage is now the second retailer to break the 8pm Thanksgiving Day threshold as they will open at 6pm Thursday. Stage will then stay open for seven hours until 1am, before closing for the night and reopening again at 6am on Black Friday.
One important thing to note is that Stage is sharing their ad with both Goody's and Peebles. That is, all three stores have the exact same Black Friday ad. To prevent item duplication, we have only listed the items under Stage's store name, although you can still view each store's individual Black Friday advertisement scans.
As we enter the first full week of November, that means the debut of the BFAds November Give-Away Sweepstakes!

We're only two weekdays into November, the ads have already started to flood in and it is only going to get crazier from here-on-out. The first two weeks of November have historically been the busiest in terms of leaked ads, so we're expecting to see quite a few in the coming days. So much so that I would be surprised if we do not start to see leaked Black Friday ads becoming a daily occurrence.
